Writer’s Police Academy

This last week I went up to Green Bay, Wisconsin for the Writer’s Police Academy. I met up with some old friends before hand and then met many new people at the seminar.

If you write, it’s awesome. I suspect it’s fascinating even if you don’t write. The focus isn’t on craft, although there were a few sessions that dealt with craft, most notably the talk by Lee Goldberg and the banquet speech by Tami Hoag. Everything else was learning about what first responders do. While the focus is on police, there were sessions on law, emergency medicine, and things like explosives and drones for thriller writers. It’s a well rounded course and definitely worth a visit for anyone writing in the real world.

I admit, my worlds aren’t always set in the real world, but the conference remained well worth it and is on my To-Repeat list as there were far more sessions than there was time to take them!
