So this month I just have a short story coming out about the same time as a bundle. This should be interesting. I’m excited about the story, The Man in Shades of Beige, as well as the bundle, Crimes, Capers, and Rule-Breakers.
Now, after a week of vacation in the middle of writing the novel that seemed to go with the short story, I have to get back into things. I need to re-read where I was and hopefully finish the story that goes with the short story. Notice the hopefully. I was excited before leaving and now, less excited. I’m not sure why.
I have a couple of new ideas noodling around in my brain. One I wrote a short story about, which is another short in a secondary fantasy world I want to explore at some point. It has a rather Appalachian flair which I hope to put to good use. Originally the idea seemed like a middle grade story but I’ve bumped that up to adult as that’s the readership I have in most cases. Still, I’m kind of thinking of another Teenage Fairy Godmother book too.
For Whisper fans, I’m sorry. I’m feeling like I’m in a place in-between when it comes to writing Whisper. My writing is better than when I wrote most of the stories but not so good that I can make that cross when I start a new story. Meg’s sections seem to lose her voice and Rain’s voice gets stronger. I’m also struggling with what I want to have happen next. I do have an overall arch and some issues I want to deal with but I’m stuck on good mysteries so I’ve set them aside at least for the time being, although I do think about what might be going on there a lot.
So, if I’m good and things go well, I should have another mystery finished and perhaps even another teenage fairy godmother story well on its way to finishing. August brings another vacation, so perhaps that will be all that gets done until after that vacation. We’ll see!
