In general I’ve had no problems with the associations I’ve been a member of. We keep our house tidy and then do our best to follow the rules.
Our current association is having turnover pains. Many people had approvals from the builder but got cited for violations now that the new company is doing checks every ten days (which seems like a lot–I think when we had an on-site company in North Carolina they did it something like every few months). We now have to copy and send in our approvals for those things that were approved by the builder.
I was amused by the neighbor who had something approved by the new company and a timeline for having the work done. The day they had agreed upon was the day the drive through happened and they got sited for the work being done without approval and for having debris around their yard. They now have to go back and say this was approved and in the timeline.
Clearly this company has too much going on to double check the supposed violations before sending them out. I had been aware that those of us who had approvals from the builder would get them, but we have the approval letters for everything we’ve had done so it’s more of an annoyance and not really their fault for sending out a violation.
Hopefully, things will smooth out over the next few months and violations will not be so fast and furious between the company and the home owners. It is, however, something to read in the evenings as everyone complains about the company and what they are and are not doing for the neighborhood.
