Hello Mr. Groundhog

This morning when I was up making some breakfast, I noticed Ham standing at the window. Our windows in the little bay area of the breakfast nook are low and easy for a cat to look out. He then put his front paws on the sill and began pawing it, chittering.

I went over to see what had him so upset. A groundhog was sitting next to the fence, partially behind one of our bushes that had not yet filled out from winter. He sat there for sometime. I finished making breakfast and looked back out and he was finally gone.

It reminded me that my friend Laura Ware has a story called Hello Little Groundhog. I was thinking of her this morning, particularly because that groundhog did not seem all that little!
