Smoke Detectors

We just realized that there is a smoke detector in the room I use as an office. I’m sure we were aware but it wasn’t something we noticed. I have raised ceilings in here. Like too the roof essentially. They are angled like a barn, too. And it’s way up there.

Of course it start peeping around 4 this morning and it was just loud enough to wake us and not let Dennis go to sleep. Only to find out that he can’t replace the thing after taking it down because our ladder doesn’t quite go high enough, despite being a very tall ladder. He can just reach it if he steps up one beyond the safety.  Well that’s fun. What were they thinking when the put one up there? We have one outside the bedroom doors but there’s that one in the bedroom itself.

I am thinking about looking into what it would cost to have it moved so we can reach it more easily. It’s not like we need a longer ladder for anything else.
