Lost Track of Time

In between writing and wrangling the kitten I completely lost track of time. I didn’t realize Labor Day weekend was coming up. In the United States, Labor Day is sort of the unofficial end of summer.

Of course, the fact that we are currently having record highs in Kentucky hasn’t helped my time disorientation. It’s not as humid as it was earlier this summer, but it’s hotter. I think the news said that we hit about 101 F yesterday, which is not exactly my cup of tea.

I much prefer cooler weather. Actually, Edmonton in Canada probably suits my tastes better. Give me snow and frigid temperatures over humidity and heat any day. And mountains. Big ones. But my husband loves the heat and humidity and would probably be happy in Florida, where the heat would no doubt kill me going from car to grocery store in the early morning hours. Kentucky is something of a compromise.

Right now, I’m working on editing The Ghost in Room 785. It’s the second book in my Haunted Hotel series and showcases Olive a bit more. I hope to have it published by the end of the year. I have two more books in the series written but they definitely need some redrafting, one for voice and one because I wanted to call The Ghost in Town, but there’s no ghost in town, although there is a place for one, which might just enrich the story a bit more.

As far as writing, I am once again giving an idea that I’ve been playing with a try. We’ll see if it works out the way I want it to. Last attempt went way too dark. This attempt feels a bit too light. Even if I toss this again, the third one has to be just right, doesn’t it?

I hope everyone who has a long weekend has a safe and enjoyable one!
