It feels like a lot of people are talking about hope this week. It seems to be a theme.
And that’s one of the things I try to write about. I want to write stories that have hope. Yes, often there’s a murder in my books, but generally speaking, good wins. Hope wins.
I’m not certain I always get hope across but in general I try to write books that will make people feel good. People who are feeling good find hope much easier to latch onto and keep going.
It may be that I fail at this goal but I am fortunate to have the privilege that allows me to keep writing anyway. I have no children but I do have cats and while sometimes those cats insist upon sitting on the keyboard, they usually don’t require immediate attention, so I can go back to writing. I remind them that if they don’t get off the keyboard I can’t afford to feed them. This seems to work.
What do you keep working at to bring hope to other people? And what gives you hope?
